The Greene & Pickens Black Families Association
The Greene & Pickens Black Families Association Scholarship Awards are designed to recognize
students of color who want to make a significant difference in their life and their communities.
GPBFA wants to support and encourage their continuing education by providing scholarships to
those students enrolled in accredited technical, undergraduate and graduate programs. This
program is designed to help ensure educational access and ease the financial burden of
attending college.
Application Deadline: March 15th, 2009
Total Scholarship Funds: $1000
Amount of Each Scholarship: $500
Eligibility Criteria:
• Must be a Greene or Pickens County descent
• Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
• Must be studying at an accredited university in the U.S. for the upcoming academic year
• Must be (or plan to be) enrolled full-time as an undergraduate student for the upcoming
academic year
• Must have earned and maintain a cumulative Grade Point Average of a 2.5 or better
• Must demonstrate financial need, verified by the financial aid office
Required Documents:
• Official transcript - Postmarked by March 15th
• Proof of Genealogy
• 500 word Essay - Submitted by March 15th
• 2 Letter of Recommendations from professor or teacher - Submitted by March 15th
• Resume - Submitted by March 15th
• Financial Aid verification
