This is the Marshalltown, Iowa group.  Many of these individuals are descended from the
families of Mantua, Alabama.  These families consisted of the Burtons, Gandys, Lavenders,
Maxwells, Morrows, Spencers, Summervilles, & Wilders.  These families faced severe
hardship in the rural areas and seeked a better life.  One member of the family heard about
work with the railroad in Iowa.  The individual envisioned that taking this job offer would
result in a better life for his family and community.  In 1918, several individuals of these
families took the train and migrated to Marshalltown, Iowa and prospered.
