The Greene & Pickens Black Families Association
                The Eatman-Rice-Parham Family Reunion

This particular took place in the late 1990's in Greene County by the Lock Dam.  The
coordinators of this fine event was the descendants of John Eatman.  Many of John Eatman's
descendants live in the Birmingham, Bessemer, and Akron area.  The participants for the
reunion are the descendants of these three families.  The furthest this family was able to go
was to Mariah Parham, who was born in 1866.  I don't believe she was born a Parham, but
somehow she took that name.  She about four children that I am aware of.  One of her
daughters named Mary Lou Parham was born in 1898.  In the early 1900's, Mary Lou married
a man named John Eatman.  John Eatman was born in 1885 to Scott Eatman & Elizabeth
Hinton Shambley. The Rice surname enters the family in two ways.  John Eatman had a half
sister & a brother named, Dexter & Hasty Rice.  Also, one of Mary Lou's sisters, Martha Bizzell,
married Mack Rice, who was a first cousin to Dexter & Hasty.  Several descendants of the
Rice families participate in the reunion.
