The Greene & Pickens Black Families Association
Alexander Lee Barrett was born Brandon
Alexander Barrett at 7:04 a.m. to Corporal
Clifford Albert Barrett & Mary Jeraldine
Lee on April 4, 1982. He was the youngest
of two sons. Alexander was born and
raised in Matteson, Illinois. He attended
Rich South High School and graduated in
the top half of his class. He graduated
from Ashford University cum laude,
majoring in Organizational Management.

On November 24, 2004, Alexander raised his hand and swore in to the
United States Army. He was stationed at Ft. Jackson, Ft. Lee, and
currently at Ft. Hood, in Killeen, Texas. He finished his tour in May of
2009. However, while he was serving, his country, he had an opportunity to
pursue his interest in genealogy. Ever since he was a child, his maternal
grandmother would tell him the old stories about her past in Greene County,
Alabama. Alexander became very obsessed with his family history and
wanted to know more. He traveled to several states to meet long lost
relatives in hopes of obtaining more information.
While doing his research, he made a lot of discoveries about the black
families of Greene and Pickens County. He learned that the black families of
both counties had a very rich history. He also learned that through several of
his ancestors, he is related to several of the black and white families. In
2006, Alexander wrote and published four books based on the black and
white genealogy of Greene County, Alabama. In 2006, he founded his own
publishing company, "Kingdom Publishings and wrote and published his first
novel called, "Who Will Cry For The Little Girl? The Legacy of Abbey Rice"
was released in 2009.

He received a vision from the Lord about the black families of Greene and
Pickens County, Alabama. In 2006, Alexander founded the Eutaw Black
Families Association, which consisted of the descendants of the black slaves
that were held captive. His main intent was to get all of the black families
together that had a tie with Greene County. On May 25-28 of 2007, the
Eutaw Black Families Association had their first reunion. It was called the
Eutaw & Aliceville Alabama Black Family Reunion, which was hosted in
Tuscaloosa, Alabama. There was a total of 350 people who attended. The
reunion was a very big success and he is currently working on the next one.
What Is He Doing Now?
Alexander is on the verge of completing his Masters Degree in Education and
then on to start his Doctorate. He is trying to pursue a career as an archivist
and a genealogist. He is working diligently on a genealogical and historical
study based on the early families who migrated to Mantua & Union in the
early 1820’s. He has been doing extensive research on the following families:
Colvin, Davis, Carpenter, Upchurch, Baskins, Burton, Fulgham, Gosa,
Brown, Norwood, Jones, Miller, Gordon, Hardy, Eatman, Richardson,
Hinton, Wilder, Barnes, Cockrell, Shambley, Linton, Harris, Spencer,
Lockett, Maxwell, Howard, Rice, Cameron, Snoddy, Nimrod, Lavender,
Morrows, & Storeys,
In the meantime, he does a lot of consulting for black families in hopes of
reuniting them with their long lost families. Alexander has several success
stories of reuniting long lost families with one another. After ten long years,
he reunited his mother with her long lost brother that she had never met
before. It took him ten years, but he was able to do it.
